CITIES - sculptures and land art

Izmir

The city of Izmir invited sculptors to make sculptures from scrap metal. The theme was "the mask".

Steel-scrap metal sculpture, "Les Izmirables" - assemblage of objets trouvés.

Les Izmirables - 2013 - assemblage of objets trouvés - steel-scrap metal sculpture - Izmir TR

A mask is more or less two dimensional in function. But actually it gets its plasticity from its being an object.

The International scrap metal Metal Mask workshop:
participants: Lucien de Arend - Finland, Nedim Hadziahmetovic - Serbia, Omar Toussoun - Egypt and Suat Karaaslan, Gökçen Ergür, Varol Topaç, Ercan Yilmaz, Neda İsmail Atar, Derviç Ergün and Ahmet Özparlak from Turkey.
