Land art and site specific sculpture in the urban setting. Environmental sculpture is an art form which uses the environment as its material. Concrete art is, like any art form, human made and is therefore geometric in essence. Public art is art which can be viewed and accessed by the public.

LAND ART

the Walburg Land Art project pylon

The Walburg Land Art project pylon.

The essence of the pylon - four tetrahedrons - stand as a reminder of the high tension lines into the town of Zwijndrecht.

A few years after returning to Holland, during one of my walks in the polder, I was struck by the tall pylons in the Dutch landscape - and upon receiving my first commission to make a proposal for what became my second land art project, I chose this site as the location for my Walburg Project.

The photograph above shows the bottom half of the towering pylon which had to be redesigned after the high tension lines were demolished. The tower with its arms would not hold up to the wind after the connecting cables were removed.
