LAND ART

land art project Urban Oasis

LAND ART in Ede - Bald Cypress trees (Taxodium Distichum), water, concrete and color.

A 125 meter long row of 24 Taxodium Distichum (Swamp Cypress- or Baldcypress) follow the channel which connects to a reservoir at this point. The row of Baldcypresses enters the reservoir at an obtuse angle and continues into the water, where these trees thrive. The small islands on which the Taxodium Distichums grow are made to slowly erode - leaving the trees to stand independently in the water.

De Rietkampen is a new urban area of the Dutch town Ede - this environment is an urban form of land art. That is why I gave this project the title urban oasis.

I made another Land Art Project with water, an island and rows of trees in the Dutch town of Hendrik Ido Ambacht - a cross-shaped jetty island, called X-ing.

The land art project in Ede - urban oasis - was created between 1989 and 1993.
