CITIES sculptures and land art
Hilversum|HorstermeerOblique rows is a land art project using pollarded willows to form parallel rows between the entrance roads. Hilversum-Horstermeer - is in the center of The Netherlands where the level of the land is low and the ground water level is very near the surface. In 1984 the Hilversum Sewage Refinery Plant (Zuiveringschap Amstel- en Gooiland) commissioned Lucien den Arend to make a proposal for the surrounding grounds: in particular for the area between the two entrance roads. On the right is a large glass sculpture by Piet hein Stulemeyer. This sculpure was installed on this location in the same period. oblique rows - 1984/1986 willows (Salix Alba), grass, earth and water - 10500x2200x200-400cm - gardens of the Sewage Recycling Installations Horstermeer, commissioned by Zuiveringschap Amstel- en Gooiland - Hilversum NL
