The city of Ede in The Netherlands commissioned Lucien den Arend
to make a proposal for an environment in the Rietkampen, a new district. In its
center there was to be a larger body of water, as a reservoir for superfluous
rainwater. The surroundings of this reservoir needed to have
an urban character.
